THE ORATORY OF SAN MICHELE granted by the rich nephew of the doge
On concession of the bishop of Padua, Giorgio Corner, doge’s nephew who was the owner of the mills of Pontemanco, was built in 1714 the oratory of Albignasego called “Church of the Ferri”, being it was constructed upon desire of the Counts Pellegrino, Antonio and Silvestro Ferri.
The frescoed oratory, annexed to the eighteenth-century holiday house, houses the ancient altarpiece, the marble bust of the Countess Anna Maria Coccino – dedicated in 1817 by the nephews Leopoldo and Francesco Ferri to their “meritevolissima nonna” (very meritful grandmother) – and the monument to her mother, Leopoldina di Starhemberg, a cultured and intelligent woman.
